Each winter, the capital of Luxembourg sparkles with a thousand-and-one lights in the Winterlights event.
As days become shorter, the Christmas spirit awakes and the capital of the Grand Duchy is again embellished with the loveliest light. A major event organized by the City and the Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO), the Winterlights offer a moment of congeniality and magic in the midst of winter. In parks, on cobbled streets and lively squares, the town sparkles with a thousand lights. Merry-go-rounds, shows, entertainment, concerts, exhibitions… A colourful programme plunges young and old alike into the enchanting world of year-end festivities.
Iconic features of the Winterlights, the wooden chalets forming Christmas markets are also installed in all four corners of the town. They brim with treasures such as wooden toys, decorative items or jewellery, made by talented craftsmen. Gourmets will be spoilt by stands offering Luxembourg and regional specialities. Delicious “Gromperekichelchen” with tasty “Grillwurscht”, traditional “bretzels” and “spätzle”, something to suit everyone’s taste. Plus the famous mulled wine called “Glühwein”. Known as one of the finest traditional Christmas markets in Europe, the Winterlights unite family and friends each year for unforgettable moments.
